The Colne Valley Viaduct will be the UK’s longest railway bridge and its curved arches over the lakes in the Colne Valley have been designed to represent a stone skimming across the water. There are eleven V-piers required, and many technical challenges associated with their construction.

Align has created a partnership with Kilnbridge in order to deliver all the piers required for the viaduct, including these very challenging V-piers, each of which have twenty-seven different faces, some smooth and some textured.

The results of all the teams efforts are now becoming apparent with the first V-piers coming to fruition across the lakes.

Many congratulations to all those involved.
