Considered as a masterpiece of the brutalist architecture (an architectural style that emerged during the 1950s in the United Kingdom) in the country, the Barrandov Bridge went into service in 1988 and has not undergone any extensive repairs since then. For this major refurbishment project, VSL will carry out strengthening works using additional external post-tensioning. The multiple box girders will be brought back up to capacity to extend the bridge's lifetime under increasing traffic loads.
The reconstruction has just started and will be spread over the next four years. The works are expected to be executed in four stages over summer periods. The first stage was completed successfully in 2022, and the second one will start in May.
Congratulations and good luck to our VSL team in Czech Republic on this significant renovation project!
