Our team was able to maintain the installation cycle from the shortest to the longest cables despite the difference in length and the increase of cable size, with an average of 12 days to install 4 pairs of cables. Applying the VSL Be More culture, the team improved our working methods to become more efficient, managing to save a consequent number of work hours compared to what had initially been anticipated. This successful operation, combined with the professionalism of our team, has strengthened an excellent relationship with our client MCE.

Another highlight in this project was the successful application of the twin strands method, which VSL is now ready to deploy for large structures.

The VSL team is already fully focused on carrying out the final adjustment of stay cable forces in April 2023, and the key milestone of the installation of VSL’s friction dampers in August.

Congratulations to our site team for their successful contribution to this exciting project!

As a reminder, the construction works started in 2020 to replace an existing stay-cable structure over the Rhine River between Duisburg and Neuenkamp. The first bridge should open in October 2023. Works for the adjacent second bridge will then begin in 2024, once the existing bridge has been dismantled to allow for an eight-lane expansion of the major A40 Autobahn link.
