The 410-meter structure will provide a safe and modern way to cross the Huallaga River, which will contribute to the economic development of the Peruvian jungle area. Currently, only rafts and small boats are used to cross the river, which causes higher costs and delays in the transfer of local production.

On this construction project, VSL was chosen by the Consorcio Puente Huallaga to carry out the post-tensioning works as well as the installation of 80 stay cables. In line with international recommendations, cables longer than 80 m must be equipped with solutions for vibration control. The VSL Friction Dampers were installed to mitigate undesirable excitation of the stays. This proven VSL solution is world-renowned for its outstanding performance, efficiency, and durability.

The Huallaga bridge is composed of a 200-meter-long main span, with two twin towers. It will have two 3.30-meter lanes for vehicle traffic as well as a pedestrian walkway on both sides. Our team worked on a tight schedule and completed the mission a few weeks ago – on time, and with stringent quality standards.

The bridge will benefit more than 600,000 people in the region. Our VSL staff are proud to have contributed to such a project that will have a true impact on the quality of life of local communities, thanks to a safe transport infrastructure and the development of new economic opportunities. Congratulations to all our teams involved on site!
