Dear all,
On Saturday 6th November, the Bouygues Group announced the signing of a purchase agreement with Engie to acquire the entire Equans Group. This fantastic news is a unique opportunity for us, with Equans, to create a world leader in Energies & Services. We are proud to have been selected for the value we will bring to customers, employees and shareholders, the strength of our social model and commitments. I would like to extend my congratulations to everyone involved in this venture. Let me take this opportunity to share three key messages with you:
Firstly: this new chapter is an exceptional source of opportunities for our businesses and for our people.
The combination of activities from Equans and the Energies & Services division will allow us to extend our offering of services and solutions to our clients. Our global presence will surpass 20 countries, reinforcing our geographical network. Our sectors are growing, primarily down to the energy, digital and industrial transformations. Therefore, together with Equans, we will see more opportunities to develop our skills, and clear gains in our ability to innovate, design new offers, and promote our expertise on the ground. For our teams, the Group has made strong social commitments for the next 5 years. Energies & Services is a business that creates jobs over the long-term. This is reinforced by our strong culture of development and recruitment across all our sectors.
This is the start of a long road ahead before the completion of the deal, expected in the second half of 2022.
Having listened to the feedback of the employee representative bodies from Engie and Equans, the completion of the transaction is subject to regulatory approvals, in particular regarding the monitoring of mergers. Until then, Equans and the entities within the Energies & Services division remain strictly competitors. The rules of competition must be fully respected, such as the prohibition of collusive and anticompetitive practices.
This new entity, combining Equans and the Energies & Services division will form the largest business line of the Bouygues Group in terms of value, with close to 16 billion euros in revenue and 96,000 employees. The new entity will be headed up by Jerome Stubler, the current Chief Executive of Equans. I am fully committed to working with Jerome Stubler on the new organisation moving forward. This is a major project that will also involve working with Bouygues Construction on resource sharing and our future partnership.
I am aware that many of our teams and partners will have questions throughout this period. We may not have all the answers right away. However, during this next phase, we will remain attentive, open to your feedback, and I will provide regular updates with concrete answers.
In the meantime, let’s remain focused on our objectives, attentive to our clients and our teams, and assertive in our sectors.
Let’s embark on this next step in the development of the Energies & Services division in a strong position in terms of results and performance. Let’s stay on track, always keeping in mind the simplification and continuous improvement of our performance. Let’s continue with our Together Further plan that we launched earlier this year, focusing on its four axes: decarbonisation, digitalisation, strengthening our services in partnership with our clients and the development of our people. The gains of this strategy are already yielding positive results, as demonstrated by the progress made in 2021 in terms of profitability, cash flow, operational excellence, enrichment of our climate and digital offering, as well as the boost in recruitment and customer loyalty.
I look forward to coming back to you to share the latest updates of this exciting venture.
I know I can count on you all.
