As part of a comprehensive environmental approach, Bouygues Bâtiment Grand Ouest, leader of the design and build consortium for the Parc du Robec rehabilitation project in Darnétal (76), has surrounded itself with partners who are keen to limit the carbon footprint of the site, particularly by reducing waste.
Recycling at the heart of the approach
Bouygues Bâtiment Grand Ouest's teams are currently installing 17,000 m² of rock wool insulation under metal cladding with no flap. This insulation system developed by Rockwool optimizes application time because their rockwool solutions are not affected by rain, and therefore do not need to be covered. They also limit the risk of thermal bridges, ensure the durability of the insulation system and prevent the spread of fire.
As part of its eco-responsible approach, Bouygues Bâtiment Grand Ouest was attracted by the recycling process integrated into the Rockwool service.
The process, adapted to the Parc du Robec site, allows the old insulation of the facades to be recycled. For this purpose, a specific skip was installed on the site by NPC Alizay, the local waste management partner of Bouygues Bâtiment Grand Ouest for this project. Naturally, Rockwool joined forces with NPC Alizay to package the rockwool in bales and optimize storage and transport to Rockwool's production site in Saint-Eloy-Les-Mines in Auvergne. On site, the rockwool scraps are processed and directly reintegrated into the new wool manufacturing process. The pallets are recovered, tested, repaired if necessary and reused.

Eventually, 30,000 m² of façade insulation will be recycled and not landfilled. This is an exemplary circular economy approach that will drastically reduce the amount of final waste from the site.
