The €175-million project, signed in June 2020 on behalf of the Ministry of Health, will cover more than 48,000 m² and include two storeys, with a total capacity of 434 beds. Barely 18 months ago, the 160,000-m² plot of land where the construction is taking shape was nothing more than an empty field. Today, nearly 900 employees and skilled tradespeople are busy on site, completing the structural work and beginning the technical and architectural trades phase. The biggest challenge? Starting the work in the middle of a pandemic. The excellent synergy between the design teams and the technical studies teams has enabled the project to progress despite the difficulties. The use of connected 3D modeling software, such as BIM 360, has allowed to deliver high quality design files on time. In addition, there is a strong focus on training and collaborating with local people, who make up 91% of the total workforce. They are supported by Bouygues Bâtiment International personnel, to help them meet the Group's demanding safety and quality requirements. To this end, the subsidiary was audited by AFNOR for triple ISO 9001, 14001 and 45001 certification a few months ago.

The environment and the Clim'Act approach very quickly became key components in the Abomey Calavi University Hospital project. The site carried out its first carbon footprint assessment during the construction phase and has maintained the high standards of its Green building EDGE (Excellence In Design for Greater Efficiency) certification. In addition, the site was recently awarded the Topsite Innovation label! This recognizes the initiatives implemented to protect biodiversity, the digitalisation of energy consumption monitoring (with Smart Impulse), and the quality of the site’s installations, meeting Green Site Office standards.
