VSL will contribute to the construction of the beautiful and innovative Kruunuvuori Bridge in the heart of Helsinki, which will be Finland’s longest and tallest bridge built solely for public transport, pedestrians and cyclists.

As the highlight of WSP Finland’s award-winning design, the iconic 1.2km-long Kruunuvuori Bridge, with a 260-meter main span deck either side of a 135-meter high central tower, has a design service life of 200 years so as to address the durability challenges of frost and seawater.

The main contractor TYL Kruunusillat, a consortium of Finland’s leading contractors YIT Oy & Kreate Oy, chose VSL for the supply and installation of the stay cables. The latter will be equipped with VSL’s P-SP Stay-Pipe, a unique solution that has been developed in-house to mitigate ice-fall incidents from stay cables so as to maintain the safety of users throughout the year by retaining any ice accreted to the stay-pipe until it melts naturally.

VSL is proud to be involved in such an exciting project, that utilises innovation and cutting-edge solutions at the forefront of sustainability.
